All roads lead to The Square in Palmerston North City - a beautiful inner city park and social hub sprinkled with public art and surrounded by boutique shops and cafes.

 

Beyond the City is The Country Road experience – a series of themed touring routes between the highways that take you on scenic roads to great lookout points over ancient river terraces, to vast valleys and into the native bush reserve in the Ruahine Mountain Range.  The sea to mountain landscape is the City’s playground. 

 

Must see attractions include New Zealand Rugby Museum, where rugby heritage from every playing nation is showcased.  The Esplanade Scenic Railway (a miniature train on extensive tracks through bush and parkland at Victoria Esplanade) is a family favourite.  Other ‘must see’ places include the herb farm (themed gardens, shop, cafe and beauty retreat where therapeutic body products are made onsite), Feilding Saleyards and Manawatu Gorge.

Palmerston North is a thriving, vibrant city that is centrally located in the North Island. It provides a lot of outdoor activities and has an easygoing, relaxed pace to it. It has an active student population and is also nearby to Linton Military Camp. It is only 2 hours drive from New Zealand’s capital city of Wellington and close to the North Island Plateau skifields.
